This is so frustrating, for the pat few days I have not been able to connect on my vodacom 3G, I can only connect on 2G and it is so slow.

Is anyone else experiencing a problem?

Yup Same problem my BlackBery & 3G card can olny connect to EDGE in places where i used to connect through 3G

guys who ever told you 3g is 3g in sa its not and never will be its 2.5 g with a 3g signal overlay. and forget 3g who gets to make a call on the vodacom network without the call being dropped.......
average 5 calls a day that are dropped and no its not my phone even my good old 6310 cant keep a call ...

now i will wait for the comments from mr yello.......bee

Agree with you TT, but the so called 3G is light years faster than 2G. I called the call centre which was a waist of time, logged a fault. People are also complaining about this on mybroadband.co.za . Apparantly vodascum are doing network upgrades, but how the fcuk can they do this if it is going to effect current services!

On the blackberry guys on mybroadband are talking about refunds, I did not read the posts on that as I just got an iPhone, which I also had to switch 3G off now for it to work!

you must check me move my pc around in my room trying to find 3g or hsdpa or hsupa. there is only certain spots that this signal logs on as 3g or hsdpa, last night after about half an hour of batteling to find the 3g signal, it bumped up to hsdpa and run at about 112kb/sec, much faster than the internet at work, unveliebable.......

if only it could run at that speeds everytime I log on.

for the guy who invented "GPRS"

it's so damn slow, it won't even let me log into the club forum 10'o clock at night.

Speaking of this, a few days ago i heard about some report into 3G signal in the whole of Africa, and apparently SA was in last place when it came to cellphone networks quality.....

I am in Boksburg about 2km away from East Rand Mall. Like I said both my data card and iPhone have to be set to 2G if I want any data coverage.

north riding randburg with a jurg external antenna and kempton terenure also with a K-lpda-a 10.5db gain antenna still crap .you know when a standard adsl line is quicker than 3g your in ** CENSORED **

This is a joke, no one seems to be able give you a straight answer. Vodacom are taking a ton of abuse on the local forums. All I would like is answer, yes we have a problem and "this" is when it should be fixed. But as usual the response from the customer care agent is "it must be your device". Well I have two freaking devices that are experiencing the same problem.

And I just renewed both my voice and data contract with vodacom

, thankfully I am getting issued MTN voice and data staff sim cards soon. At least I will be able to try both networks.

You know i work for the place and i don t even have proper signal at my house this is 3G and 2G .... i have at most 2 bar signal if i use my laptop on 3g.

Now one thing and i know this is an issue .. just to give the Guys a little background on how the whole thing works. The 3G network is a complete sperate network that runs over the existing 2G network only problem is that if you look at a 2G tower it's footprint for coverage will be allot bigger than the 3G footprint also if the site is very busy the footprint for the 3G will become smaller .... to install more capacity is expensive, to get a larger footprint is expensive, to get Telkom to give us transmission is basically asking for water out of a stone.

Currently it's a big problem .. not just with vodacom but with MTN,Cell-C as well.

I do know you get a cell extender and you can ask them to have one installed sometimes they go and install a microcell to cater for everyone in a spesific area.

The only way to get someone to look at the problem is to get hold of the correct people .... i will see if i can get a contact person to look after the problems.

I myself only pass info on but dont even know if they would even look at it.

So whatever problem you have i can try to assist but i cannot promise anything as i dont work in those departments.

If you want you can send me the info needed, place where you pick up the problems, what type of problems and at what times.
