Rave : Shell Tyre Pressure gaugeSo I stopped at a Shell yesterday to fill up, and pump my wheels and I was amazed at what I found...
Basically its an digital pressure gauge that shows you the accurate pressure while you pumping up your tyres,
You program in the desired pressure before you start and it beeps to let the attendant know when he hits the mark...
I've personally never seen one of these in a petrol station and quite possibly I've just been sleeping, but either way I'm rather impressed that such a simple invention has now found its way to a regular little petrol station as I've been well pissed off over the years with the poor service most attendants give, and often I've had to fix the pressures myself...
I would love to test the accuracy of it, but as far as feel goes, I don't think my tyres have been pumped up as accurate / evenly as this in a long time..
Well done Shell, great initiative

At last! I never pump my tyres at a garage! Their gauges are usually useless!! I have a compressor at home with a proper gauge. I will have a look out for one of these though.
The other bad thing about garages is the amount of water in their airlines. They dont drain the compressors regularly, and their watertraps just dont work!!

Saw these in Europe when i was there in Sept
Put the pressure and it will inflate or deflate to the required value.

i've seen these at a few service stations....
what makes you think these are better than the normal ones though, even these can lose calibration and be incorrect.
Best thing is have your own gauge and always check yourself

Nice one!
We've actually had these in CT for a while... JHB is so slow.
BP in Forest Drive, Pinelands, has had them for some time.

No bud its not JHB that is slow. We have had them for over a year already..
If ur tyres are hot they are going to over read on the pressure anyways. So best bet is to rather pump them .1 -.2 bar over, then check when cold & adjust to the desired setting..
