If it was Legal I would be the first one there. If something goes wrong or the cops show up, as an ex SAPS reservist.
I don't believe its worth the risk of a heavy fine, criminal record or even the loss of ur car..

I agree with you and thats why are hardly go for things like this but the place where the hookup happens is lekker and its safe, and there is no cops in sight.

maybe i should go past    only have a map done not even the cooler n all

the ECU is awake though just came off of zwartkops for the advanced driver training

Neil

Hey the red Evo posted by Dadaman looks pretty much like the one that almost got knocked by a truck! Not the racing that caused it the truck driver ran very very late through a red robt!

Cops where their but they said howzit and left, apparently a packet of chips and a coke richer!!!

The minute I got their I got pounced on by St owners and Meg owners wanting to race, I did highlight that I was stock however it was fine with them, as for the megs, it was a good run for me firstly to practice launching and secondly to race against a non "limited edition car" that had mods done to it, although it wasn't discussed what was done, the ornage meg had wastegate flutter sound, the pipes had some work done to them ie possible decat, and it probably was mapped however didn't run like it was mapped...Having said that the black meg owner told me that he had software and pipework, and it was at the far end of the run that he managed to pull half a car on me.....

Too be honest the megs looked slower than the MPS's and the OPC's and the ST's however the fact is that they where all well sorted cabs that where running...

Then again I was told that the F1 did very well and gave a good showing considering it's very much stock....nobody ran away from me...
Jacques

Races

Nice runs Neil.

Megs are definately not slower than OPC's and MPS's but when you race
stock cars against modded OPC/MPS then it will be.

You never know what these Guys have.

Are you sure the black car has software, if it's Daniel then it's not mapped.

The orange Meg is Kyle and that car runs stock software but he has done
induction and that is why you hear the flutter.

Was this on Tuesday at the spot?

Definitelly was not me, I came there very late and had no encounters of this sort.
Dadaman

Why are there so many stock Megs?

Whats the point of keeping the car stock when there is so much more power waiting to be unleased?

No sense taking a knife to a gun fight...
Robot

i think the stage 3 megs need to go to these things ....

I agree totally, the Meg brand is getting rubbed through the mud and some of you Ph3 guys needs to go silence the critics once and for all.

There are plenty modded Megs / Clios at various Stages..

U don't see many of them at street races for the reasons I mentioned yesterday & cos unofficially the club does not support these type of events..
Jacques

No not all Megs are stock .... but i do agree that we dont engage in allot
of meetup's as we were instructed not to attend on previous occasions.

I am not very eager to go to an meetup at night far away from everyone
and everything.

If someone really want to test then meet me during the day ... i will make
a plan to attend.

Racing during the day is just not on as there are so many other cars on the raod and this is way more dangerous.

Dadman, how do you like racing... 400m, or top end...

Guys please remember this is something the RS Club has formally distanced itself from. We do not endorse any kind of illegal gatherings for the purpose of street racing....

I like both actually...

The spot in the east is approx 800m so its fair to race there is some guys dont like 400m.

Evo's can hold its own over top end...

I like both as well 400m and top end... but never get round to doing this only now and then... its random lol

Slakkie I am keen to do it again but I hear that traction at night is a ** CENSORED ** & reckon that with semis it would actually be worse..

That's true but just take the righthand lane as they do the serious runs in the lefthand lane(less grip on the right)
John

Also keen to do it.

Just checked the fordforum.... 3 to 4 lengths ahead...

FYI have to agree that after 1st you where about 3 to 4 ahead...But it did look like he closed up to around 2.5 cars during 2nd, however you appeared to be changing smoothly...The one run where you snap changed you kept the 4 car gap....

Like I said on there, its not easy seeing the distance when one is looking through a mirror.  I could have been wrong but the distance was quiet noticable.

Also, I have not raced this car a lot, in fact, I only had about 4 runs before I changed the clutch and the 3 on that night with the new clutch.

Will get the hang of it with more practice.
Neil

Sorry guys didn't know the club's prefference with regards to not attending ilegal racing, however having said that, I would imagine that as a club it would be wise and proffesional to not agree that such gatherings are good things, much the same as speed and sound frown on ilegal gatherings, however having said that we need to look at a couple of other influences that dictate where and when people race their cars...

We own fast cars.
Other people own fast cars and we preach that ours are faster, each and every event millions of St's run and we don't run giving us the image that perhaps we do have the slower cars and also don't know how to run...Or at least appreciate your car...

Not everybody wants to go to an even whereby you have to pay to get in, pay to race, and then have to perform in-front of the minions, again as a stock car you may end up running a ST and coming 2nd...Thus pulling the name through the mud... To have a private run allows you to hone your skills and also gives you an idea of what mods you will need to beat this or that...

The "ilegal" street races are generally attended by a few select invited cars thus keeping it reasonably safe ie it's not like their are people running all over the place, in addition the "spots" are generally dual carriageways with slip roads on the side for parklng, thus keeping a long distance between cars running and cars parked, (not at all like fast and the furius shows it"....

I am aware it's not as safe as a legal event however their are manf factors in place that turn a person in the ilegal direction, but let us not think for one minute that eg I am a irresponsible driver that goes recklessly driving up and down roads looking for dices and slotting in and out of traffic whilst on a run against another car...

I say each to their own but keep it safe....

Nb this is only my opinion, I have only been to three meet-up's, and am not aware of just how unsafe the meet up may get, however the one's I have seen where racing occured I believed to be reasonably well thought out with regards to No traffic, and no by-standers near the road...
Neil

Nb "Taking a knife to a gun fight"
I run stock because firstly I didn't want to lose the motorplan, now I am out of M/P and don't have the available cash to re-map and de-cat.....Going to UK Dec need all the cash I got....

Trust me if I had cash I would have re-mapped already!!!

As for running stock at the moment, I expect to lose to anything mapped, however it gives me a feel for where my F1 stands, and also good practice and more importantly it's fun....
