Contact at Ekhuruleni MetroWell this weekend i got nailed with a R1300 fine for doing 170km in a 120 zone - Figures.
Does anyone maybe have a contact at the Ekhuruleni metro that could possibly reduce or squash this fine for me?

PM Cuzzen - He might be able to help with his contacts there, but I guess it depends where in Ekuhurleni you were fined. Hope you come right

Sheesh, you're very lucky. 170 in a 120 zone is supposed to be a NAG!

Thy's is correct, go into Joburg city centre, locate the magistrates offices or whatever they call them and inside their you will find a que of around 5 people at any time looking to get a fine reduced... I think it is called the magistrates court, (if you come from Edenvale side) and entre city centre then you need to go to the other side! you need to go into the building and onto the 2nd floor, as you go up the stairs I think it is third office on the right, their is a little bend outside and two guys inside, I believe one of them is a judge or something, explain your plight to him ie can't afford to pay, you have two kids and you where speeding becuase you had a sick mother whom was locked out of the house or something, he may ask you what are you live in, you can also bend the truth their and give a poor area becuase if your from Sandton then expect no reduction! Once he reduces it (ie he will sign a reduced price on the doc) then you go to the other side of the passage two doors up and pay...
I got a R1600 fine reduced to R800...
Hope that helps, sorry can't give exact directions, I'm not good with directions....or street names or area's..
Cheers Neil.

I am loving the car. So much so that in the last 15000km, i have gotten way to many fines, and ruined a set of brake pads :-) Not always the best behaved driver, so guess i cant complain about the fines. If you want to drive like a hooligan, then you must suffer consequences.
Thanks for the advise guys, did send Cuzz a pm, so hopefully will get something sorted, otherwise will dress up in the oldest dirtiest clothes and go plead poverty, not sure it will work, but worth a try.

Welcome to the club
Sadly, even with a connection, speeding is frowned upon and you going to battle to get it reduced..
Your best bet is to go sit with the magistrate, apologise profusely and beg and plead for them to reduce it..

A traffic officer once told my mom that if u write them a letter (email now days very old story) explaining that it was that time of the month & u needed to get to a ladies room ASAP that they will reduce / scrap the fine. So she did & the fine went away..
I got caught going through a red robot at 05h30 in Alberton six years ago, rushing my wife who's water had broken to hospital & the tosser at the court still gave me ** CENSORED ** & only reduced the fine by 50%.
So what I am trying to say is that it depends on which tosser u get to speak to..
