Access to the entire forum

Hi all,

Why is it that only owners of Renaults get access to the entire forum?

Why cant everyone go through the entire forum?

Just curious as this is the only club that does this.

Hi

We had the forum open for the whole public but it was decided between
members that tye would rather not leave it like this as people from other
forums used this forums post to start unnessesary fights between the
clubs.

I do hope that this makes sense and if you do have questions please
feel free to post it to our Admin team.

Personally i think we need to open a few more area's to the non renault
drivers ... but that is just me.

I agree.

I know that you guys have been having beef with the ST guys but that does not mean that you have to shut everybody out.

Big up Dadaman, nice ride  

Jacques has the just of it, but its a little more involved.

The majority of the guys that join forums other than there own, do it with malicious intent. (not only st guys   )

There are also other reasons, like protecting the members from being caught out posting about mods etc. That may effect warranties.

Basically an open vote was taken some time back by all members (not just the admin team) and it was unanimous to close up shop.

The result is that we now have an incredibly friendly environment for all the guy to chat without the worry of some dude trying to cause ** CENSORED ** all the time  

I could be wrong but arent the scooby club and team st also exclusive ?
And ive also heard a little chatter about some of the other clubs looking at doing the same.

Can i ask a question though, why would a non renault driver want to join the Rsclub ?
I personally have registered on a couple other forums just to have a look but to be honest they dont really interest me and i hardly ever post anything.

Hi, thanks man.  Its such a pleasure driving an Evo especially around the twisties.

Mine is the 9.

Yes Hanro. Stays in Tim street. His name is Evert. Still have the baby blue Micra and he's parents bought him a 4.0l Jeep Wrangler for Christmas last year to use in stellenbosch, his dad drives his Evo now and then. Do you know him?

I am from Edenvale and currently have 34,000km on the clock.

No, not stock, just have exhaust and a remapped ECU with a very mild map.

but as a regular poster here (non violent poster)

wonder if you could asses regular posters and maybe let them into the main site ???if they asked ???

The reason for me is I really like reno's and have driven quiet a few around tracks etc ....just would like to chat more etc ???.....

if the non reno guy causes ** CENSORED ** mod his rights ???

My suggestion is register on http://www.zoopedup.com/default.aspx as many of our members are on there aswell and discuss or post what ever you want to, else buy a Renault and we'll welcome you with open arms.

Evo's take kindly to minor mods.

I only have exhaust, a mild 95octane remapped ECU and a flatbed filter and I made 212kw ATW at Snails.

Not bad...

The std engine is a very good basis to start from.

Got another small mod to do to the turbo by changing the compressor wheel and I will get another 20kw ATW minimum.

Total cost to do this is about R3,000

I take my car to Steve from No Sweat Racing.  He works on Evo's, Supra's and Skylines.

It is rather cheap, I totally agree but thats what you get when you buy an Evo.  Try doing the same mods to a Scooby and see how much it costs.

The compressor wheel cost me R600 (imported at a very cheap price) and the remainder is labour costs.

That's really not bad is that your last mod or you going to keep  going?And you should try and get a race with a meg so you can c how big the dif is

Only other thing I want to do is a water injection kit, might just be a christmas present from myself to myself...

Raced a few Megs when I had my Opel.  No comments on the outcomes as that was some time back.  I assume that the Megs did get faster since then.   joking...

If and when a race comes, will try it but its not easy for me since I live and work 1km away so I am hardly on the road.

What power was you astra making when you stil had it and is the evo your everyday car now?My one mate has a astra coupe like your old one he has a red one with big turbo mod in the alberton area and i think he is pushing 165 maybe a bit more atw

My Coupe made 179kw ATW.  I had a full Ph3 setup with VXR turbo, exhaust, water injection, FMIC and EDS software.

I was in an accident on new years day this year and my car was written off.  A stupid Golf took me out at a robot.

Yes, the Evo is my everyday drive although I would like to get another small car to use as a run around one.

I took off whatever I could from the car and sold it.  The FMIC was stuffed and I couldnt get to the turbo so didnt take that off.

I sold the water injection, boost pipes, Eibach springs, 17" rims, turbo timer and my software.

Na dude, I had every intention of getting an Evo but would have preferred both cars parked next to each other at my house.  Both the cars are collectors items imo.

You are right bro, std is 209kw ATF.

The engine was built strong and can handle a lot more so it builds up some decent power with the minor changes to it.

Evo's FTW they take so nicely to mods... and the thing with an Evo you can mod and mod and mod and wont break.... not sensitive like the Subaru's

I went to pick up some oil splash baffle plates for my car at No Sweat and saw your car on the lift I think they replaced a clutch…..
We need to hook up for JDM action.

Yeah, had to change the clutch recently.  I think thats the weakest part on an Evo.

Howzit Cameron,

Saw quiet a few Megs at the dyno day yesterday.

I made 195kw ATW @ a conservative 1bar boost running on pump fuel.

Not bad at all imo taking into account that the map I have on is a very mild one.

Gonna change the map to a race one and was told that I will gain another 20kw ATW.
